The Inspiring Art collection of Maya Angelou (Pictures)

The art collection of Maya Angelou was sold on Tuesday for a combined fee of $1.3 million, the Huffington Post reports.

The writer, poet, civil right activist, and now art collector died last year at the age of 86 years, and the art collections, including one commissioned by Oprah Winfrey were in her house in Harlem. The artworks included paintings by Faith Ringgold, Elizabeth Catlett, Phoebe Beasley, John Biggers, Romare Bearden, and John Green.
